Coast to Coast Circuits has named Ed Porter president and CEO. Porter has served in a variety of managerial and executive leadership roles over the last 20 years within leading organizations in the printed circuit board industry, including TTM Technologies and Sanmina SCI.

“We are excited to have Ed on board and are looking forward to seeing Coast to Coast flourish under the guidance of Ed and his team,” said Rob Smith, chair of Coast to Coast’s board of directors. “Now is the perfect time to select a strong leader as the company is in a great position for growth. Ed’s in-depth industry knowledge and expertise, people-focused leadership style, and market understanding will benefit Coast to Coast immensely.”

Coast to Coast Circuits is a combined offering of two facilities, one in New York (formerly known as Metro Circuits) and one in California (formerly known as Speedy Circuits).

“I have kept my eye on these two facilities for much of my career and have a great deal of respect for the reputation they have both developed in key markets,” said Porter. “We have already made several improvements to both factories and are pleased to serve a great customer-base. With our Rochester, New York factory restored to a fully operational state, we have two highly-proficient factories ready to serve all our customers’ needs. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with the ownership team, their support has been amazing and we look forward to conquering the challenges ahead.”

This year’s show was one of the best in recent history, both in attendance and enthusiasm. What follows are a series of observations and excerpts from conversations I had with some of the most interesting people I met.

The PCB Dinosaurs Get New Life at IPC APEX EXPO 2018

04/09/2018 | Dan Feinberg, FeinLine Associates, Inc.
The Order of the PCB Dinosaurs (originally called the PWB Dinosaurs—the sign of a true dino) was born because of a comment almost 20 years ago by my good friend Bernie Kessler. Back in the day, when suppliers like us became IPC members, we could only be associate members; unlike fabricators, we could not serve on the board and we could not lead key committees.
