Taiwan-based Taiflex Scientific, which supplies flexible copper-clad laminates (FCCL) and PV module backsheets, has reported lackluster sales for December due to decreased demand for its products from the smartphone and other mobile device sectors.
December revenues came to NT$607.16 million ($19.69 million), down by 26.2% on month and by 34.16% on year. For all of 2018, revenues totaled NT$9.643 billion, decreasing 13.85% from a year earlier.

Nanya Technology, Taiwan's biggest DRAM chipmaker, will apply for a permit to provide chips to ZTE. The company said it has been notified about restrictions on shipments to ZTE, and that the ban would have limited effect on its operation. The company said on May 9 that it is preparing to apply for a permit to continue shipping chips to ZTE Corp. as export restrictions took a new turn due to a US-China trade spat.
