Handset PCB Makers Expect Good 3Q

Thanks to the availability of a number of new handsets, PCB specialists Compeq Manufacturing, Unimicron Technology and Unitech Printed Circuit Board expect a shipment rise handset-PCBs in the third quarter of this year, according to the Chinese-language Apple Daily. However, the gross margins of the two PCB suppliers may drop 2-4% sequentially in the second quarter, as a result of weaker-than-expected demand for mobile phones and rising costs of raw materials, including copper-clad laminates (CCLs), indicated the paper.
