Insulectro, a leading supplier of materials for use in the PCB and printed electronics industries, presented its first Technical Summit for 2015 to a capacity crowd Wednesday, April 22, 2015, in its Mountain View, CA location. With over 60 guests in attendance represented, the OEM Tech Summit focused on new high performance PCB materials from Isola, a world-class laminate supplier (

“Insulectro has a long history of helping to educate its customers on new technologies and new materials,” Jason Marsh, Vice President of Product Management, stated. “The Tech Summits are a great way to get interested persons together for a half day and acquaint them with what’s new and what’s changing.”

Highlights of the Tech Summit included a featured presentation by industry expert Lee Ritchey entitled “Differential Pair Skew & Materials Selection.”  Particularly intriguing for the audience was Ritchey’s challenge that OEMs must pay close attention to what materials are used, as high performance materials of today are considerably different from those of the past.

Ritchey also talked about Isola’s new laminate Chronon™ whose electrically invisible reinforcement eliminates skew issues in next generation High Speed Digital designs.

Other topics presented by Isola’s Fred Hickman, Chudy Nwachukwu  and Rich Pangier,  included: “Laminate Fundamentals and Their Impact on Design,” “I-Tera® MT for HSD Designs for Improved Reliability,” “Tachyon and Chronon™ - Best-in-Class Materials for Loss and Skew,” and a review of Isola Resources available to designers and OEMs presented by Insulectro VP of Technology Chris Hunrath.

“We knew OEMs would be interested in what these new products are capable of and the turnout indicates interest is high,” commented Marsh who also served as host of the event along with Isola’s Helene LaValle. “We’re at a tipping point where a new breed of materials with lower loss and lower Dk are essential to design and build boards that were never before possible.”

Ken Parent, VP of Sales for Insulectro agreed, “This Tech Summit was a major success. It’s amazing what can happen when you get the entire supply chain: supplier, distributor, designer, material manufacturer, PCB fabricator, and OEM together in the same room and begin dialogues. This type of activity is a priority for us – we’ve even branded it – we call it our ACT program that means “Accomplishing Change Together.”

What’s next for the Insulectro Tech Summits?

Ken Parent summed it up, “We are dedicated to help shape the direction of our industry by keeping pace with innovation.”

“As a major player in electronic materials distribution, we will continue to bring together our customers and colleagues for vital exchanges of information and collaboration,” Marsh concluded.
