People don’t do things they don’t want to do, especially in our industry, and they sure as shooting don’t do things they hate doing. Instead, they do things they like to do, and that is what this book is all about. This book is about fitness; it’s a book about staying motivated to stay fit.

This is the simplest and most straightforward book about exercise that I have ever read. It really appealed to me, as I’m sure it will to many readers, because it teaches you how to use your head to reframe what you think about exercise and how to love it instead of hating it. Author Michelle Segar, a motivation and behavioral scientist, demonstrates to the reader how to make exercise the most pleasant part of your day.

For instance: You’re not jogging, you’re taking a beautiful tour of your town. You’re not exercising, you’re contributing to your overall well-being.

Look, get rid of the pain and suffering, and stop looking at your exercise equipment as instruments of torture. Instead, look at the fun you can have while running, or playing tennis, or just doing calisthenics.

As Dr. Segar says, “Human beings are hardwired to choose immediate gratification over benefits we have to wait to receive.”

And that is what this book is all about. Full disclosure: I found out years ago that the best way for me enjoy my daily four-mile walk was to add audio books to the task. And not just any books, but those mysteries and thrillers that I had no time to read in my daily life.

Now, there are days when I can’t wait to get out there, slap those earbuds on along with my sneakers and get out there. I even have had times that I have walked an extra two miles so that I could find out what happened next in the Patricia Cornwell book I was listening to. I’m sure Dr. Segal would be proud.

Get rid of all of those books on exercising and buy this one. It is really the only book you will need to start getting fit…or to do anything else you don’t like doing, for that matter.

Alex Stepinski: A Philosophical View

"My philosophy is to rely more on sensors throughout the process to measure things non-destructively, then build a model for how you’re going to perform, and just validate against the model," said Alex Stepinski. "It’s the next step slowly happening worldwide. For instance, we’ve had 2D AOI for many years. Sometimes, this is complemented with electrical tests. Now, you start to see more 3D AOI happening. You see them putting more sensors on the AOI equipment for direct measurement. Then, you also have the traditional signal integrity testing."
