Executives and staff at a San Francisco Bay Area manufacturing facility held a town hall discussion with Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA-17) on the federal policy issues facing the manufacturing industry under the Trump Administration. Rep. Khanna took a tour of IPC-member company TTM Technologies, Inc. (TTM), getting a first-hand look at the work taking place in its Santa Clara, California facility.

"The high-tech manufacturing industry is an essential part of our economy here in California and globally," said Rep. Khanna. "I appreciate the opportunity to have a candid discussion on the policy issues that are impacting this industry and strategies to promote economic growth."

Coordinated by IPC, the world's leading association for the electronics industry, this visit is part of the "Meet the Policymakers" program, an ongoing effort that connects policymakers with their constituents.

"We appreciate Rep. Khanna's interest in hearing directly from our employees, those on the front lines of our industry," said Kent Hardwick, Senior Vice President, Global Sales & EMS of TTM Technologies. "We are eager to work with Rep. Khanna and IPC to find innovative ways to stimulate economic growth in California."

TTM is the largest printed circuit board (PCB) supplier in North America and one of the largest in the world. With 25 factories worldwide, TTM has proven itself a global leader in PCB manufacturing and custom electronics assembly and integration.

Guru & Geezer: A Celebration of the Life of Martin Cotton

This last weekend, industry guru and dear friend to many, Martin Cotton passed away. He was one of the first people I worked with in the electronics industry when I joined Toptec Design to learn to layout PCBs. He was a bit of a rock star to many PCB designers, myself included. He was known to be among the best in his field, if not the best, and went on to be one of the most influential and innovative people in the industry over a long and distinguished career. He will be hugely missed by his family and by his numerous friends in and out of the electronics industry.
