Taiwan Third Tier PCB Maker Lei An Suffering a Financial Crisis
March 5, 2008 |Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
Stiff competition from expanding first-tier PCB makers in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Taiwan are causing third-tier makers to suffer a financial crisis due to their smaller niche market. These makers include Lei An, and even up-stream suppliers Uniplus Electronics and Hong Tai Electric Industrial.

Uniplus, which currently has NT$ 9.84 million in the accounts receivable in total for Lei An, said that it might lose NT$ 1-2 million due to Lei An's crisis.
Rumors also have it that the crisis was caused by the conflict between Lei An and Unimicron, where most of Lei An's second hand notebook PCB orders come from. Lei An has been actively exploring its own market and order-taking capability, but it said Unimicron withdrew the orders to the company as they might have been competing for the same customers. However, the company refused to comment.
