At #10, Newbury Boards Used in Animal Tracking Research: Newbury Electronics has used its considerable expertise and experience to help Dr. Mark Holton and the Swansea Live Animal Monitoring (SLAM) group to design and produce an innovative range of extremely lightweight, but robust, tracking devices to aid their research into previously unknown animal behaviour.

At #9, American Standard Circuits Earns "Manufacturer of the Year": U.S.-based circuit board manufacturer American Standard Circuits (ASC) has been awarded "2013 Manufacturer of the Year" by the Alliance for Illinois Manufacturing. The award is intended to showcase a company that serves as a testimonial to the Alliance's integrated business delivery model.

At #8, TTM Technologies Scoops Up Viasystems for $927M: The combined company will be one of the world's leading PCB manufacturers with a strong position in the automotive, aerospace and defense, medical, industrial and instrumentation, cellular phone, and networking/telecom end markets. The new company will have approximately 30,000 employees and 28 manufacturing facilities worldwide.

At #7, IPC APEX EXPO 2015 Opens Registration: Changing technologies that are driving the electronics industry will take center stage throughout the IPC APEX EXPO 2015 technical conference and professional development sessions, February 22-26, in San Diego, California. In keeping with the event's theme, "Upgrade Your Tech-NOW-ledgy," the technical conference will feature approximately 100 technical papers detailing original research and innovations from industry experts around the world.

At #6, China Board Fab Adopts Valor Tools: PCB Manufacturing China has announced the Valor Information Highway and the Valor Warehouse Management products, two supply chain-focused tools designed to enhance Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) effectiveness and assist electronics manufacturers in reducing material costs.

At #5, EPA Toxic Substances Rules Discourage Recycling Says IPC: "As a nation, we recognize 'reduce, reuse, and recycle' as goals. But the EPA is undercutting those goals with regulations that discourage the beneficial recycling and reuse of valuable metals in manufacturing byproducts," said Dr. Brent Grazman. "We encourage Congress to directly exempt all byproducts from Section 8, including those that are sent for recycling."

At #4, Orbotech to Supply Direct Imaging System to Red Board: Orbotech Ltd. announces Chinese PCB manufacturer Red Board Ltd. has selected its latest direct imaging (DI) system, the Nuvogo 800, to increase productivity and accuracy in the production of its high-density interconnect (HDI) PCBs for mobile phones.

At #3, Miraco Earns ITAR Registration: Miraco Inc. recently received an ITAR registration from the U.S. Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC). Registration is a primary means to providing the U.S. Government with necessary information on who is involved in certain manufacturing, exporting, and brokering activities.

At #2, IPC APEX EXPO Panel Discussions: Don't Miss Them!: Exploring timely issues and cutting edge technology, these panels offer lively debate and unique perspectives on topics ranging from data file transfer formats to breakthroughs in flex circuitry--and so much more. In a small group setting, industry experts weigh in with their thoughts on business and technical issues that you won't see anywhere else.

And, at the #1 spot, IPC Elects Board of Directors: The Nominating and Governance Committee of the IPC Board of Directors presented four candidates for election at the IPC Annual Meeting, held in conjunction with IPC APEX EXPO. Three candidates were elected as board officers and will serve two-year terms. One candidate was elected as a first-term director and will serve a four-year term.
